New Youth Continuity of Care Requirements: Fostering Cross-Agency Collaboration
New federal policies to increase access and improve the continuity of health care for youth and young adults leaving correctional facilities take effect on January 1, 2025. These policies represent the first time Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) will be required to cover some services provided in correctional facilities. Specifically, Medicaid and CHIP will cover screening and diagnostic services and targeted case management services for eligible, post-adjudicated youth and young adults.
The requirements aim to facilitate more successful community transitions as young people leave the justice system. The requirements apply to prisons, jails, tribal, and youth fac...

One of our best friends, less than a week after his 72nd birthday, and whom my wife considered to be a second dad to her, was killed by a drunk driver in July of 2016. Once he saw he couldn't avoid the crash, he maneuvered the vehicle in such a way so as to minimize the impact on those with him (all but one was uninjured) and so that he took the brunt of the accident. Later that day, the drunk driver herself passed away, too. RIP, Gary.

There really needs to be awareness about this issue more often, both for adults and kids. For parents out there, it's important teach your kids to treat pets with respect to prevent this from happening. Enough of this "kids will be kids." Children start learning right from wrong around the age of 5.

Let's all reach out to our Government officials to make drunk driving a serious felony !!! This would help save lives and protect our family and friends. Not a misdemeanor, not ankle bracelet, no breaks for first time offenders. This is serious shit !!!! that can be prevented.

This should also go for texting and driving.. you weren't accidentally texting on your phone or tictoking and kill somebody. Or just impaired with a substance.. it's not just alcohol. In fact i don't think we should even be allowed alcohol. It's just as bad if not worse than any other drug. When a person is about to go through alcohol withdrawal.. which can kill you. And your intoxicated.. you will go drive to get more. If you don't have anyone else around. Because of the fear of withdrawal. Alcohol is a very bad and powerful drug!!! You know it's not just the person that's the problem. It's alcohol!! Drugs, phones..etc.

You can choose the decision but you can't choose the consequences. That's a fact. My father worked for the British Police back in the 80's and 90's as a Police Physician. The astounding amount of horror stories related to drunk driving he told me when I myself was studying Medicine were nothing short of horrifying. Upon causing an alcohol-fueled road accident that leads to fatalities, no amount of prison time, community service or repentance can ever take away the loss caused. Just put down that bloody beer, tonic and whatever or go home by Uber or something.

We need to make sure, also, that the lawyers and judges are going to do their jobs and prosecute these people. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a felony (third) DUI conviction if you can’t get a first conviction, let alone a second conviction. The ONLY punishment given here is a slap on the wrist and told, “don’t do it again”. Someone can have 7 DUIs (not convicted) because the courts just say, “don’t do it again”. Come on, this is a pattern with these people, and people in authority don’t care.

The car I was in was struck by a drink driver. I was 4, this was the early 80's and I was loosely buckled, asleep, a long the back seats. We were hit head on, on a slick and rainy street on a bridge the crossed the White River. It's a damn miracle it didn't go over the side and the aluminum guard rail held up. The driver was in a sports car with a T shaped roof and one of the passengers was decapitated and two others died from their injuries. My dad and mom both went into the windshield, cutting off my father's ear and causing my mother to have injuries to her face and neck as well as a broken hand from trying to stop herself from going thru the glass. I ended up trapped under the front passenger seat, my head went thru the glass soda bottles on the floor boards. I had a TBI and had to have several surgeries to fix my hip that was compromised at birth from a birth defect. I still have memory issues and other deficits because of the TBI and I'm in my mid 40's. The driver of the car, who was drunk, had very few injuries and walked away from the scene relatively unharmed. The irony is that both of my parents became alcoholics so my entire life has been upended by drunks. Drive safely because you don't know the driver next to may do and it might save your life being aware of the dangers around you.

I sent this to my county sheriff's office. I recommend everyone do something similar to start this movement and see real change. Good day to you. I am a retired military Chief of over 20+ years of faithful service to my country. My oath, like the oath of your office is to: Defend this country against all enemies foreign and domestic. Is the systemic corruption of our government's executive branches (at a minimum) not obvious enough at this point to make a Nation Wide unified Sheriff front to combat this corruption and thereby upkeep the oath we all swore to uphold for those who can't? I would purpose a solution. Wouldn't it be perfectly constitutional to deputize the National Guard and close the affected govt. Offices, leaving a crew to keep infrastructure running while we make a new election of the people and for the people? Perhaps with some new running politician rules like having to pass an indepth military style security clearance. Each individual in the military with a secret clearance has to. Why not our highest positions? I fear If the heros of this country don't hold to their morals now war will take it from us all and not by any voters choice. God Bless at God's speed. Very Respectfully, U.S. Navy Chief retired

I was shocked to hear and witness this.they scan people’s conversations but why do they not scan videos?ridiculous.and this is how psychopaths are created.sad, pitiful on these websites.can someone do anything about this??….also utube tells children it’s ok to pick dogs up by their ears,it doesn’t hurt or kicking them doesn’t hurt if it’s a little kick

I grew up in the 1980s, when DWI awareness was heightened, and being influenced by MADD and SADD. My Dad was a police officer whose career began in 1972. He relayed to me the light consequences of DWI in the 70s: minimal jail time of less than five days, $10 fine, no suspended license. DUI is selfish because of the risk imposed on every driver on the road, not to mention in this ride sharing era, there is no excuse!

This may be harsh in some peoples mind set but I sincerely feel that the penalty for any DUI that results in someone's passing should be the charge of first degree murder. When that DUI is still sober they are consciously making the choice to drink and drive knowing full well what the out come could very well be. When someone picks up a loaded gun, points it at someone and pulls the trigger it's the same outcome. Someone dies.
